C2S1

Coachee 2, Session 1 : occured today at 11:00am, same venue as C1S1 the day before.

The same "opener" was offered to C2, as per C1S1 - with the following outcome...

C2 has a strong inclination towards her current role of managing Quality Assurance review activities - but had stated that it would be more interesting and desirable to look beyond "doing the actual work", and being involved in more "managerial aspects" of the current role.

While awaiting for some internal Group transfers based on an earlier departure, C2 is currently "filling in" to briefly look at the unit's financial results and accounts details which are published monthly. Understandably, C2 stated that she has little interest in this area, and would like to eventually phase out doing this. On my own side, that has always been the plan - I only needed to reassure C2 that this would be happening next year when the transfer takes place.

In helping C2 find an area to be involved more in "managerial aspects", I've also received similar thoughts and input from C2 - on that "big project" that is currently being planned. Tying this in to C2's desires to look beyond "merely doing", to "managing" - since it was requested, I have also offered to get C2 involved in this initiative.

In closing the gap from C1's session yesterday - I mentioned to C2 that C1 would be needing some help. This was in fact an identification of the way for C2 to "phase out" her "doing" role (to C1) while C2 could then "elevate" herself - again, tying back to C2's personal career objectives. A win-win for both C1 and C2 is hence possible - specifically in this area (Quality Assurance).

As for timing - helping to educate C1 as well as understanding the "big project" details will commence immediately.

In fact - a short discussion on the project will be done right after this blog entry is posted.
